Building Trades Health & Welfare Fund – COVID-19 Update

Due to the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and hardships that our members may face as a result of the lack of work, the Building Trades Health & Welfare Fund Trustees have voted to provide Active Employees in the Plan with a quarter of coverage for the benefit quarter of July – September 2020. The coverage will be implemented as follows:

  • Active Employees who have sufficient dollars in their dollar bank for coverage for the April – June 2020 benefit quarter will not have their dollar banks reduced for the quarterly cost of coverage for the July – September 2020 benefit quarter.
  • Active Employees who are eligible for coverage for the April – June 2020 benefit quarter and who would otherwise be required to self-pay for coverage in the July – September 2020 benefit quarter will now not be required to self-pay for the July – September 2020 benefit quarter.

This provides relief to self-pay members who may not currently be receiving a paycheck. Also, for the members who earned eligibility through contributions for the July – September 2020 benefit quarter, they will now have eligibility for the October – December 2020 benefit quarter.
