Philadelphia, PA, June 25, 2024 – The Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Centers (EASCTC) hosted their annual graduation for this year’s class of apprentices at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. This class featured 183 graduates who have successfully completed their four-year apprenticeship program. For more than 70 years, the EASCTC has been dedicated to training carpenters and builders through a comprehensive curriculum that combines classroom and shop instruction with invaluable on-the-job training. The four-year program provides apprentices with hands-on experiences and subject matter expert guidance to develop skills across a wide variety of crafts including general carpentry, interior systems, high-rise construction, concrete, and heavy highway infrastructure. Our specialty crafts include pile drivers, dock builders, commercial divers, floor layers, millworkers/cabinet makers, millwrights, and tradeshow workers. Apprentices attend the free program and earn while they learn, receiving competitive wages while acquiring real-world skills.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our graduates and their accomplishments. Our commitment to providing first-class training always equips our members with the skills needed to excel in their specific trade. These dedicated individuals have mastered carpentry, millwright cabinet making, and floorlaying curriculum, ensuring a strong foundation for their future careers. We are confident their training and acquired skills will lead them to career-long success,” says Robert Smith, Executive Director of EAS Carpenters Technical Centers.
“It’s great to see the graduates be recognized for their hard work over these past four years, and I’m excited to see what they all accomplish out in the field,” said Robert Landy, Training Director at Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Centers.
More than 25 elected officials attended the ceremony to show their support for the graduates. This included Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, who was joined by more than 10 council members, and Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton, who was joined by more than 10 state representatives.
