Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Endorses Bob Casey for U.S. Senate

July 12, 2024

Pittsburgh, PA, July 12, 2024 – Today, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters Union) is announcing our endorsement of Bob Casey for re-election to the U.S. Senate.

“Union Carpenters and their families have always been able to count on Senator Casey to have their backs,” said William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. “Senator Casey secured historic investments to rebuild Pennsylvania’s infrastructure while creating thousands of good-paying, Pennsylvania jobs, a win-win for working families across the Commonwealth. As he has done his entire life, Bob Casey is fighting to protect our right to organize, secure fair wages and benefits, and ensure safer working environments. We are proud to stand with him to win these critical fights.”

“I am honored to have the support of the hardworking men and women of the EAS Carpenters Union,” said Senator Casey. “I am always proud to stand with unions, and I am grateful they are standing with me. Pennsylvania workers built this Commonwealth and we are lucky to have a highly skilled, union workforce expanding our infrastructure. I look forward to continuing to work with the EAS Carpenters Union to ensure every worker has a seat at the table and create an economy that works for all Pennsylvanians.”

The EAS Carpenters Union represents over 19,000 union carpenters in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is committed to supporting campaigns that stand with workers and their families and will fight for the issues that matter most to our union, including the fundamental right to organize. Senator Casey is an original cosponsor of the PRO Act to expand workers’ rights to collectively bargain in the workplace and a staunch fighter for raising the minimum wage. He proposed the No Tax Breaks for Union Busting Act, which would stop allowing corporations to subsidize their anti-union activities at taxpayer expense, and sponsored the Tax Fairness for Workers Act to allow workers to deduct their union dues and common employment expenses on their taxes.

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters is a labor union that develops, trains, and empowers the hardworking men and women of the skilled construction trades. The EAS Carpenters Union has a strong presence in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia, overseeing 25 local unions representing over 42,000 union carpenters. Its members are professionally trained in various crafts outside of general carpentry, including interior systems, high-rise construction, concrete, and heavy highway infrastructure. Specialty crafts include pile drivers, dock builders, commercial divers, floor layers, millworkers/cabinet makers, millwrights, and tradeshow workers.
