January 18, 2024

Philadelphia, PA, January 18, 2023 – William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters Union), has been named to Philadelphia Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker’s Steering Committee. This designation underscores the commitment of both parties to increase economic opportunity across the city.

“I have said that I will bring together the best and brightest from within City government, across Philadelphia and the region, and across the country; and craft the policies that will create tangible results out of our promises on the campaign trail: to make Philadelphia the safest, cleanest, and greenest city in America with economic opportunity for all,” Parker said in a statement announcing the transition team. “The lift of the transition will be heavy, but this will be the team to do it.”

To support her vision, Parker has enlisted the input and insight of diverse leaders who possess important subject matter knowledge and lived experience; represent a wide range of constituencies and perspectives; and have a deep passion for the city.

“I am honored to be part of Mayor-elect Cherelle Parker’s transition team alongside Mungu Sanchez and James Hocker,” said William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the EAS Carpenters Union. “We proudly endorsed Cherelle during the election because she is someone who deeply understands Philadelphia and the work we do in it. I look forward to collaborating with the transition team to make a real impact on the future of the city by finding common ground on issues that matter most.”

Sproule joins two other EAS Carpenters Union representatives—Mungu Sanchez, Director of Community Organizing and Deputy Political Director, and James Hocker, Philadelphia Regional Manager. Sanchez will act as a Senior Advisor on Parker’s Steering Committee, while Hocker will serve on the 2026 Preparation sub-committee.
