James Hocker has been a carpenter for more than two decades and currently serves as Assistant Executive Secretary-Treasurer for the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. In this role, he provides invaluable leadership and oversight for the council, which proudly represents approximately 43,000 Union Carpenters across New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Virginia, and West Virginia.
Prior to his appointment as Assistant Executive Secretary-Treasurer, James served as Regional Manager for Southeastern Pennsylvania, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia. In that role, he oversaw employee performance, provided coaching, and managed a team of more than 20 staff members across the region.
James continues to serve as a Trustee of the college-accredited Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical School and as an Executive Board Member for the Council.
Earlier in his career, as a Senior Council Representative, Council Representative, and a Journeyman Carpenter, James collaborated on large-scale construction projects, including the 2016 Democratic National Convention where he worked to coordinate the setup on behalf of the Carpenters Union.
A second-generation carpenter, James resides in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.
