A former White House technology policy advisor, small business owner and volunteer medic, EMT and firefighter, Suhas Subramanyam epitomizes the aspirations of the American immigrant family. Earning a law degree with honors from Northwestern University, Suhas served in the Virginia General Assembly where he took on Big Pharma, passing legislation to reduce prescription drug costs and increase price transparency for consumers. When Virginia consumers were overcharged by hundreds of millions of dollars on energy bills, Suhas built a bipartisan coalition to fight back, resulting in over $300 million in refunds to Virginia families.
Suhas has been a champion for worker and union rights — fighting to pass legislation allowing local government workers to unionize. He knows “collective bargaining is a critical component to creating a healthy economy and sustainable communities.” He believes “the right to organize for safer working conditions, better wages, and higher benefits must be protected.” That’s why he supports repealing so-called “Right to Work” measures and will continue to do so in Congress.
Suhas is married to Miranda Peña Subramanyam, who volunteers in her free time at the Dulles South Food Pantry. They currently reside in Ashburn, Virginia with their 2 daughters.
