EAS Union Carpenters Celebrate Completion of Children’s Ramp at R.W. Brown Boys & Girls Club in North Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA – Volunteer carpenters from the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters joined community leaders, local elected officials, and children of the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia to celebrate the ribbon cutting of a new access ramp at the R.W. Brown Boys & Girls Club in North Philadelphia.

The ramp, constructed earlier this summer by union members in partnership with Philadelphia Gas Works and with materials funded by Pennsylvania State Senator Sharif Street, provides children with safe, direct access to the Club’s outdoor play area for the very first time.

Senior Council Representative Joe Lockley said, “There were many key people involved, and once these relationships were formed, the partnership came together quickly. We all worked together to make this project happen for the kids at the R.W. Brown Boys & Girls Club and ensure they have a safe, accessible walkway.”

Senator Sharif Street and Philadelphia City Councilmember James Harrity joined carpenters and community members at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the project and its impact on the neighborhood.

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters continues to support community initiatives that improve public spaces, promote safety, and give back to the neighborhoods where members live and work.
