FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RICHMOND, VA. – The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters) today announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger to be the next Governor of Virginia.
Representing more than 42,000 skilled carpenters, millwrights, and trade professionals across Virginia, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, the EAS Carpenters applauded Spanberger’s steadfast commitment to Virginia’s working families. Her recently announced “Growing Virginia Plan” includes a major focus on expanding workforce training and registered apprenticeship programs across the Commonwealth.
“Virginians know that Abigail Spanberger is a leader who understands hard work and that union families need an administration that will listen to them,” said William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. “We know Abigail will have our backs when it comes to strengthening the prevailing wage, expanding apprenticeship programs, cracking down on wage theft, and worker misclassification, and creating more opportunities for the next generation of Virginians. That’s why we are proud to endorse her for Governor of Virginia.”
Spanberger thanked the EAS Carpenters for their support, emphasizing her dedication to working people and the middle class.
“As I travel across the Commonwealth, I hear from hardworking Virginians who are working longer hours but finding it harder and harder to get by,” said Spanberger. “They deserve a Governor focused on creating good jobs, making Virginia more affordable, building stronger schools for their kids, and protecting the secure retirement they’ve earned. I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the EAS Carpenters. Especially at this moment, when my opponent supports nonstop attacks on Virginia’s workforce and economy, our Commonwealth needs a Governor who won’t be afraid to stand up to the chaos and speak out on behalf of our workers, their families, and their livelihoods.”
