Prince George’s County, MD, October 24, 2024 – Today, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters Union) is proud to announce their endorsement of Angela Alsobrooks for the United States Senate. This endorsement is a testament to Alsobrooks’ commitment to protecting workers’ rights and supporting working families in Maryland.
“Alsobrooks has been a fierce advocate for working families in Maryland like those in our union, and will continue to fight for them as Senator,” said William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of EAS Carpenters Union. “She has long understood what is most important to our members, and this was made clear through her support of the PRO Act. We are proud to endorse a candidate that has workers’ backs and we look forward to advocating with Ms. Alsobrooks for safe working conditions, fair pay, and better opportunities for working families.”
The EAS Carpenters Union represents skilled carpenters across Maryland that play a pivotal role on major development and infrastructure projects across the state. Our union ensures our workforce has proper training, safe working conditions and good paying jobs so that all of our members can focus on building a better tomorrow.
Standing up for workers like our union members is one of Alsobrooks’ key priorities. She is an advocate for raising the minimum wage in Maryland and nationwide, along with supporting universal paid family and medical leave. She is an avid supporter of the PRO Act and looks to help vote it into law as a member of the U.S. Senate. The bill expands various labor protections related to employees’ rights to organize and collectively bargain in the workplace.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters,” said Alsobrooks. “In the United States Senate, I am committed to fighting for our workers – their safety, benefits, wages, and ability to retire with dignity. I will fight for people just like the men and women of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters in the Senate and look forward to passing the PRO Act to strengthen workers’ rights to collective bargaining and make it harder for corporations to prevent workers from organizing.”
