Chester, PA, October 24, 2024 – Today, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters (EAS Carpenters Union) is proud to announce their endorsement of John Kane for State Senator of Pennsylvania’s 9th District. This endorsement highlights Senator Kane’s dedicated efforts to enhance the lives of working families, drawing from his extensive experience as a union plumber and his tenure as a state senator.
“Senator Kane worked most of his life as a union plumber, giving him firsthand experience with the value of unions and the struggles working families face, making him a strong candidate,” said William C. Sproule, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. “Serving as the business manager for Plumbers Local 690 gave Senator Kane invaluable insight on subjects important to our union and its members such as fair wages, safe working conditions and access to quality job training. He fought for high-paying, quality jobs for his members as a union leader, and we are excited to be able to advocate with him as senator on all of these issues to create a better quality of life for all union families.”
The EAS Carpenters Union has thousands of skilled carpenters across the state of Pennsylvania working on a number of major developments and infrastructure improvements. Many of these carpenters learned and perfected their craft through the EAS Carpenters Union apprenticeship programs. The union apprenticeship programs meet the highest safety standards and feature instruction from experienced carpenters at some of the most state-of-the-art training facilities in the country, including a first-of-its-kind Commercial Dive Center. These resources provide apprentices with the skills they need to help build a better tomorrow. Senator Kane understands the importance of training programs that meet the highest standards, and is committed to investing in our workforce for the future of our infrastructure and our families.
“I am a 45 year union member of Plumbers Local 690 in Philadelphia and had the distinct honor of being Business Manager for thirteen of those years,” said Senator Kane. “I will never stop fighting for unions and the rights for better wages, benefits and pensions so you can retire with dignity!”
