EAS Carpenters Help Veterans Looking for their Next Career

January 17, 2020

The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters is known for its support of veterans through “Helmets to HardHats” Program and the charitable work our brothers and sisters provide in the community. Recently more unique assistance was provided in Delaware for Veterans who were studying the art of watchmaking. Local Carpenters helped the Veterans Watchmakers Initiative with the need for more tables for veterans to use for their studies.

“Union carpenters helped to design and implement changes to the table that are invaluable as they pursue learning their craft,” Sam Noel, council representative, Local 255, “The carpenters used a CNC [computer numerical control] machine to ensure that any holes they cut were perfect.

This work was performed by Steve Young, an instructor and a third-year apprentice at Carpenters Apprentice School of Philadelphia. These tables had to pass the test of practical utility, dependability, sturdiness, and longevity. Our union carpenters delivered on all counts.”
