Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Council Representative Michael Conner, Local Union 474, was invited to attend a White House Event on Labor Day this year with President Joe Biden and Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. “It was an honor to be selected to attend President Biden’s Labor Day speech.  I hold all veteran’s issues near and dear to my heart and I am proud to have been able to share my story. The Union provides veterans with a pathway to a better life, it is about time that we show the world that fact,” said Conner.

Conner attended with fellow members of The Union Veterans Council. Rachel Lablance, Sean-Keoni Ellis, and Anthony Livingston, each with a unique and powerful story demonstrating how veterans can thrive when provided with opportunities, resources, and the right environment.

Veterans have turned to unions and organizations like Helmets to Hardhats for help in finding the benefits and fair hourly wages they are looking for in their next career. Today, there are over 1 million actively working union veterans, along with countless retirees and military families. Veterans have found the pathway to the American dream through a union card and, in many cases, veteran job training programs and veteran training programs.

President Joe Biden established the Build Back Better agenda, which will supply Veterans with a clearer and simpler path into the union. Easing the process of receiving an occupation outside of the Military is extremely important in giving back to those who fought for our country.
